Ariba Catalog Overview

External Static Catalog PunchOut L1 PunchOut L2
Description The catalog is created and maintained by the supplier directly on the Ariba Network.

Supplier-specific content is uploaded through the Ariba Network and synchronized with Knorr-Bremse's SAP Ariba procurement system.

Any updates or changes to the catalog are managed by the supplier via re-uploading or versioning within their Ariba Network account.
The catalog content is hosted on the supplier’s interactive e-commerce webshop.

SAP Ariba’s PunchOut infrastructure enables real-time communication using cXML messages between the webshop and the Ariba Network, including the transfer of the shopping cart back to the customer’s SAP Ariba procurement system.

All content updates are managed directly on the supplier’s website and are immediately visible to users during their shopping experience.
When users search for items in the SAP Ariba application, results can include both static catalog items and PunchOut catalog items. This allows users to find what they need without knowing the supplier in advance.

SAP Ariba’s PunchOut Level 2 functionality communicates using cXML to enable real-time access to detailed product information such as pricing and availability. It allows users to “punch in” directly to specific levels of the supplier’s catalog structure within the e-commerce site, enhancing the shopping experience with deeper integration and more precise product selection.

Important Note: Knorr-Bremse prefers PunchOut Level 2 with item-level integration, ensuring that individual items are searchable directly within SAP Ariba.
